Warehouse Cafeteria Featured Installation: Max-Master a Durable Solution
The Client: Wakefern Grocery Distribution Center, Carteret, New Jersey
Furniture Dealer: Kenneth Wolfram Office Furniture
Furniture Manufacturer: Norix Group, Inc.
Product Solution: Norix Max-Master® Tables
The client, Wakefern Food Corp., is the largest member-owned wholesale distribution cooperative in the United States, supplying groceries and other merchandise to more than 200 ShopRite supermarkets. Wakefern recently moved into a 1 million sq. ft. distribution center in Carteret, NJ which employs more than 200 warehouse workers.
To furnish the employee dining area, the client required cafeteria cluster seating tables with uncommon durability and ease-of-maintenance that would hold up to frequent use year after year in a rough-service environment.David MacKinnon from Mid-Atlantic Plus, a sales consulting firm specializing in challenging environments, presented
Norix Max-Master® fixed seating to Ken Wolfram, the office furniture dealer working closely with Wakefern.
Mid-Atlantic provides a unique hands-on “shopping” experience for the client by use of a mobile showroom on wheels. MacKinnon brought a 31-foot mobile showroom to the client’s facility where the entire team could come aboard for a close-up look at the materials and construction of the seating units. “They told us the issues they had with other products – with edges coming off the tables”, adds MacKinnon. “Warehouse activities are tough on furniture. They wanted a dining area that looked great and met their budget.”
Wakefern ordered 63 of the Max-Master® 4-seat tables for their employee dining area. The tables feature permanently affixed, non-removable floor glides – which solved the client’s maintenance problem with previous tables. Max-Master® tables also feature a high-pressure laminate top, sealed with a specially formulated and extremely durable molded, polyurethane edge. The molded edge is pressure fused to the 45 lb. density fiberboard core, which ensures the edge is seamless, non-removable and highly sanitary — for foodservice applications. Seats are compression-molded, scratch and stain-resistant. Max-Master® tables provided the long-term solution for Wakefern’s
high-traffic food service area.
Furniture dealer Ken Wolfram, who supplied the “front-of-the-house” office furniture, described the team effort with his company, MidAtlantic, Norix, and Wakefern, “What Norix installed at my client’s facility is exactly what they required. The ordering and delivery was well organized. This was our first experience with Norix and we will continue to specify their products with confidence.”
