Norix Furniture Introduces Hondo Nuevo High Back Chair
Our Hondo Nuevo® Lounge Furniture Series just got some company. In order to provide a more extensive behavioral healthcare furniture solution for facilities, the company has launched the Hondo Nuevo High Back Chair – a product with the same qualities as the other products in the series but with an extended back.
“We listen to our customers, and we do our research to make informed decisions about the products that we introduce into our markets,” Brad Karl, Norix Director of Innovation, said. “And we realized that we needed to provide a Hondo Nuevo chair with a higher back that was made not only for comfortable sitting, but also for geriatric, medicated or other special needs populations that require extra seating support.”
Karl adds that while the High Back Chair was initially conceived as a behavioral healthcare seating solution, the product can actually be applicable to any facility – fire stations, correctional environments and commercial facilities, in particular – that is in need of highly durable, comfortable seating that is easy to clean and maintain.
“The High Back Chair really provides a solution for those facilities that need secure furniture with that addition of back height for comfort and, in many cases, safety,” Karl said. “It’s just as durable and aesthetically pleasing as our Hondo Nuevo Lounge Chair, but has an additional 12 inches on the back.”
Like our other Hondo Nuevo products, the High Back is a rotationally molded, vinyl seat that is attached with security fasteners to your choice of molded plinth, steel, molded wood grain leg or genuine wood leg base options. The product is filled with three pound density, polyurethane foam filling for cushioned comfort. It also is compliant with multiple flammability standards and is resistant to bodily fluids and salt and chlorine solutions. It also is GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold Certified after stringent testing showed it to be in compliance with the low emissions standards set by UL Environment for indoor facility use.
Additionally, the chair has been product tested to a 750 pound static load; dynamic drop tested to a relative impact force of two times BIFMA5.4 15.4.2 (500 pounds from 18 inches) and is puncture resistant to 184 pounds. It comes in both our Naturals and High Brights color palettes and can be mixed and matched with all of our Hondo Nuevo products to create modular seating arrangements. An optional footstool (pictured above) also gives users the option to kick up their feet.
